As we age, the skin around our eyes starts to lose its elasticity casuing gradual fine lines and wrinkle. Over time under eye bags will start to develop as the muscles relax and lower eyelids sag down. In addition, our upper eyelids can also start to droop with age.

Comfort aside, this can also give the eyes an older, tired look and a hooded or bulging appearance that can make patients feel self-conscious.

During a short operation (1-3 hours), loose skin and excess fatty tissue around the eye area is removed, tightening the relaxed muscles and giving the skin a firmer, more youthful appearance and a more attractive aesthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Recovery from eyelid surgery generally takes several weeks but is usually not extensive.

There might be some swelling and bruising, but most people don’t experience much pain. We suggest 2 weeks of recovery before returning to normal activities. Stitches will normally be removed within a week.

In the first week of recovery, patients will want to make sure that their eyes receive plenty of rest. The redness and swelling occurring after the blepharoplasty procedure will fade with time. We advise that patients sleep with their head elevated, apply ice compresses, avoid alcohol, and avoid activities that dry the eyes or increase blood flow.

Eyelid Reduction at Cadogan Clinic is one of the simplest and safest cosmetic surgery procedures you can have as you will be in the hands of some of the top surgeons in the country.

Like any surgery, there are potential complications but are exceedingly rare and do not happen in experienced hands.

A blepharoplasty is performed making an incision along the natural skin foldsof the eyelid, it is possible to cut away skin and fat tissues and leave only fine, discreet scars along the natural skin crease of the eye.

Upper eyelids that have a lot of excess skin can cause functional problems to the eye by causing a loss of peripheral vision, especially in the outer and upper parts of the visual field. Lower eyelid surgery helps diminish those lower eyelid ‘bags’ and excess skin.

Depending on the type of surgery, the incision may be along the lower eyelid lash line or from the inside surface of the lower eyelid to avoid leaving an externally visible scar.

Your surgeon will give you pre-operative advice at your initial consultation which may include having an eye test if you have eye health issues, stopping smoking or taking certain medications such as aspirin which may delay healing, and you may choose to take arnica tablets prior to surgery to reduce any bruising.

Your surgeon may advise for you to take a week off work depending on your particular case as you may have minor swelling and bruising around the eye area following your surgery. This will subside within around ten days and is completely normal. Your stitches will be removed 3-5 days after your eyebag surgery and you are able to wear makeup one week afterwards. If you feel any discomfort, your doctor is able to provide pain relief for you though this is not usually necessary. It can take up to a few months for your eyelids to completely settle and to see the final result

At Cadogan Clinic our cosmetic surgeons are highly experienced in carrying out blepharoplasty procedures and will ensure that your results are completely natural. Once healing has taken place, you will look refreshed and more youthful-looking.

Prices for a blephroplasty start from £4000, however every individual is different and an accurate price will be quoted, depending on your individual needs, upon consultation with your surgeon.

Any pain during Eyelid Surgery is minimal though if you opt for upper and lower eyelid surgery you may prefer to have the procedure done under general anaesthetic. Any discomfort you may experience following the treatment can be controlled with pain relief and eye ointments provided by your surgeon.

The Blepharoplasty procedure is good for improving drooping eyelids as it removes excess skin and fatty tissue from above the eye (upper Blepharoplasty) removing the hood of skin which can develop as we age. This treatment can also be used to remove excess fatty tissue and skin from underneath the eyes (lower Blepharoplasty) and can smooth out crow's feet.

Blepharoplasty or Eyebag Surgery can be done under local anaesthetic and involves the surgeon making tiny incisions along the natural crease of the eye, carefully separating the skin from tissue underneath and removing or repositioning the fatty tissue before stretching the skin and stitching it back together ensuring any wrinkles are smoothed out.

Also known as 'eyelid surgery' or eyebag removal, the popular blepharoplasty procedure is a relatively quick treatment which removes excess fat and skin from around the eyes.

If you have hooded eyelids or sagging eyelids, eyelid surgery at Cadogan Cosmetics could be beneficial to you, and our surgeons are some of the best in the UK. It can be done under local anaesthetic and you are able to leave the clinic with a friend or relative once it has been carried out.

We use a variant of the general anaesthesia technique called TIVA (Total Intravenous Anaesthesia) that is delivered by our team of top anaesthetists. Intravenous delivery enables our anaesthetist team to monitor anaesthetic depth more closely via specialized computers to maintain an optimal level of anaesthesia. This means you will wake up feeling much better than with traditional alternatives and ready to go home shortly after.
